Environment protection and work safety

Ecology and sustainability as well as the health and safety of our employees are at the core of our business. We try to conserve natural resources, to ensure the well being and safety of our employees and to work harmoniously with economic and ecological demands. This is why we meet legal statutes in the areas of environment, employees’ health and safety not only at minimum levels but often exceeding the standards of the federal accident prevention and insurance associations.

According to our self-conception, work and environmental safety starts with the procurement of raw and auxiliary materials and continues outside of our plant gates. From the very beginning we have manufactured our products under aspects of sustainability and care for the environment – conviction and sense of responsibility of the owners.

Work surroundings and production

When planning for our new plant in Selmsdorf it was our declared aim to save as much energy as possible. The consumption of gas, heating fuel and electricity for years has been a major cost factor. Besides that we wanted to create a plant which is both ecologically justifiable and impeccable in terms of occupational health. In order to meet this goal we had to harmonise our technical requirements with legislation and occupational health regulations, which we did!

We consequently separated the bunkering of aggregates, binder and additive storage as well as enclosed the conveying system and mixing stations. Our production personnel work in clean, light workspaces that don’t require dust- or noise protection.

In-house transport is done with electric fork lifts to avoid fine dust and fumes. The separated area of aggregate bunkering, though, requires a powerful LPG-operated machine.
The total solvent content of our repair asphalts is below 1% of weight, which is equally pleasant for our employees and customers. The solvent used is aliphatic and thus not harmful to health.

Raw materials

When choosing our raw material suppliers we demand first and foremost stable, high quality, environmentally friendly mining excavation and processing as well as safe transport and immediate re-naturalisation.
Our aggregate and dust suppliers work with highly modern crushing equipment and special exhaust systems, which guarantee an almost complete use of crushed and ground materials.

Auxiliary materials and packaging

Auxiliary materials must be free of harmful substances, durable and safe and, if possible, consist of recycled materials or renewable components.
Our black PE-buckets consist to a large part of Recycling-plastic granulate. Since 1997 we are a member of the RIGK-collection and recycling system for industrial packaging and for more than 15 years have been guaranteeing re-useable packaging acc. to the 5. edition of the packaging regulation, which became compulsory in 2009.

Purchasing guide lines

Our criteria for purchasing raw materials, auxiliary materials and others are very strict. They comprise of environmental aspects (renewable raw materials, low-emission production, use of environmentally friendly energy sources, short transport distances etc.) as well as social aspects such as strict compliance with working regulation standards in both home and foreign supply companies.

Logistics

Selected logistics partners transport our products quickly and reliably to our customers. When choosing logistics partners we look for low emission trucks – whenever possible – as well as competitive prices. A direct network connection saves time and optimizes routing to our customers. This is why we meanwhile refrain from owned fleet vehicles and thus avoid empty loads. All our logistics partners are certified in acc. ISO 14001.

Dienstreisen
